99 Tahoe currently has later 16x7 GM alloy pickup wheels. Looking for more curvy road stability and solid appearance, I'd like to mount later GM 17x8 or 17x9 take-off wheels. I read that 17x8 or 9 GM wheels up to 2022 will fit 99 Tahoe 4x4. I'm uncertain if this is true. I don't want to make much change to original offset. I think there's room for larger/wider wheels as the previous owner mounted 16x10 with large tires, trimmed the leading fender/bumper edges, and wore out the ball joints I removed those wheels, and rebuilt everything up front. I want tires similar to, or a size larger than, 265/75/16 with a wider wheel, but not too far off factory configuration. I live in a small town where there's slim chance to find later model take-offs. I recently replaced Michelin 265/75/16 with 265/70/16 by mistake. While the wheels are only a little smaller, they look way too small for the Tahoe to me. I'm disappointed every time I notice them. My budget doesn't accommodate custom wheels and most of the custom alloy wheels don't look right for a 99 Tahoe, for me anyway. Wheel swaps are pretty routine today; I'll appreciate hearing your experience and suggestions.
