I have a 2007 LS Tahoe. Why didn't they put AFM in 4.8l models?

Sounds like it's only a 5.3 option.

Don't worry, you're not missing too much. I'm very easy on the gas and I'm only mustering between 13.8 and 14.0 mpg city. Sticker said 15. Haven't had a long trip via interstate yet so I'm not sure if it is some great savings there.

Damn thing makes me nervous switching between 4 and 8 cylinders all the time. I keep thinking it can't be good and something is gonna break eventually.

I don't think there will be any problems with this engine in that regard. I also bought the Tahoe not expecting stellar millage aether as it is a 5000LB truck.
