air bag light?

hey guys, i was just wondering if its normal for the air bag light to flash, a few times at start up, all the other lights come on and go off but the air bag light flashes and stays on just a little longer then any other lights. it seems normal to me but im not fammiliar w/ air bag sytems at all (never had one before) and just wnat to be sure this is normal. thanks

glad to hear it, might of been silly but i just had to know? im swapping my wheel and bag out, and it just got me to thinking! if that lets you know if its on or off or letting you know there was a history code or somthing like that.

im just replacing the wheel w/ one that has the wood to match my dash wood kit, thats coming. the old wheel and bag is really worn and is an eye sore, and the bag is all peeling and scratched. ive been wanting to do this for a long time and then i read a post that had the link for jp customs and saw the wheel and decide to finnaly do it. i just got the wheel yesturday it took 4 days so they were pretty quick, but i noticed they dont have that much stuff 99 denali,s

Pffft, no one has stuff for the 99 denali. Well, not really, but y'know what Im sayin.

yeah i know exactly what you mean, our year is just a real pain in the *ss for parts, i still dont understand why, i guess cause they only made the model for 1.5 years so what ever, its been almost a decade you would think they would have everything under the sun for our trucks.

yeah, for me lately the hard item to find is a hood.

I can only find 2 that fit, and neither of them are super cool...

yeah same here, mine will go on and off by itself all the time. It started when i put in the new stereo and i was playin around inside the dash

yes the blinking is normal, happens in almost every car! it flashes at start up because the airbag system is running a self diagnostic to make sure everything is ok.. if the light stays on, then theres a problem.. when u swop out the wheel does it have a new airbag?! if not then the light will stay on if ur don't put a airbag back in... fyi

yea dude, all my newer (1996 and up, maybe earlier) gm trucks did that, even the 07 today does it, funny thing is i never really paid attention to it until now.

yeah the bag is going back, just trying to decide wether to try and paint the old one or go for new one. there pretty dam expensive, i wish the cover was separate, that would make life so much easier then having to get a hole new bag.

I don't know how true it is, but the shop that i had do my inspection, and put my new cats on said that the dealer won't tell you but the air-bags need to be serviced ever so many years.. that something gets weak in them (the powder or whatever) and that would cause the air-bag light to come on (mine was on constantly after it set for 2 yrs but it has since went off)
