I just got a 99 tahoe monday and just noticed my brake lights arent coming on when they're supposed to.

I tried in my garage and they only come on when you push the brake really hard.

I tried in a parking lot where there was a window of a store behind me to see the reflection, same thing, have to brake really hard.

Weirdly enough just a little tap is enough to turn the cruise control off.

A friend of mine thinks there might be some kind of adjustment to the switch I could do. ???

I've found what pretty much has to be the switch (a tannish little plastic box, only thing connected to the pedal with wires) and don't see any type of adjustment. is there?

If I have to replace it, how do I do that? It looks like maybe some kind of steering column mount thing might have to come out.

Anybody know?

oh, never mind I replaced it with one from a 24hr autozone (will it last 1 month or 2?) and it was kind of a pain getting the little retainer clip for the switch itself off but no steering column or steering column mounts had to be messed with.

working fine now.
