So first things first since I am still kind of new, I get torn between the 2000 and up forums and 94-99 forums. Because the limited is a 2000 with a 99 body style I figured that it is best to post in the 94-99 forums.

ANYWAYS, I wanted to find out more about the Limited Edition since there are so may different stories and production numbers for the Vehicle on the web. So I wrote GM to find out if they had production numbers for the Vehicle and this was there reply;

Dear Mr. Bard,

Thank you for contacting the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center.
We appreciate you taking the time to write us regarding your inquiry
on the production total of the 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe Limited Edition.

We understand that you are looking for the exact number produced, and
you want to know as well how many 4WD, 2WD, Barn door style rear
doors and tail gate style were manufactured.

The only information available is the production total of the 2000
Chevrolet Tahoe which is 27,148. Unfortunately, we do not have a
further breakdown of the Limited Edition; neither do we have a
breakdown for door styles and drivetrains. We hope for your
understanding.

If you should need to contact us in the future, simply reply to this
message or call our Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center at
1-800-222-1020. Customer Relationship Specialists are available
Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Again, thank you for contacting Chevrolet.

Sincerely,

The Chevrolet Consumer Support Team

So as you can tell, according to this email that there is no production number for the limited edition. Only a total of all Tahoes in 2000. Can anyone else shine some more light on this? I can't belive that they don't have a total run number for an actual limited edition vehicle. I have seen numbers around 8900 on the net....but where and how did this come about? Is that even true??

From what I've seen they are all 2wd and they all have barn doors. There was only one option on them and it was a package with like heated seats and a couple of other things. They were only available in black. As far as production numbers go I've seen around 8900 on the web as well.

Well I thought they were all 2wd...but I wanted to make sure. Mine is NOT barn door style and is the tail gate type which I have yet to see another like it. However I don't think it's a "rare" option but I do want to know production numbers. Too bad GM does not even know.

Well that's why I posted this, I was hoping someone else might have researched this further and found out more info then I have. The only info I have is from Wikipedia and other internet sources. I thought emailing GM directly would be a better source but apparently not.

my tahoe is classified as a 2000, however when you look at the sticker on the door, it says manufactured december of 99, there for making it a 2000 some how? but when ever i buy parts i usually end up getting parts for a 99, and they work. mine is also z71 package, 4 wd with barn doors. i hardly ever see any on the road.

The 2000 Z71 Tahoe, 2000 Limited Tahoe, 2000 Yukon Denali, and 2000 Escalade were of the '92-99 body but carried on into the 2000 production year. It was one of those weird model overlap years.

All Tahoe Limiteds are 2WD. I have been looking for a nice one myself.

its not the same "limited" that they are referring to.

the 99-00 Z71's could also be cosidered limiteds. but Chevy had a true limited, all black, all loaded. seats and dash say tahoe limited, 2 tone leather, ground effect package, 5 lug, 2wd, from what i've seen the only options you had were barn door or tail gate, and heated seats, they seem to sit lower than the regular tahoe as well.

Yea, from what I read on the internet the 2000 Tahoe Limited is in it's own class. The Z71's were somewhat limited too but are not the so called "limited" package. You can read more here...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Tahoe

Now according to that article there were only 8905 "Limited's" produced. I wish I knew where that number came from becuase as stated GM apparently does not know the actual number according to there email.

And here is the badge that the Limited's come with. Sorry I did a bit of off roading and well, the mud kinda makes for a crappy pic and since the paint is in excellent condition, it reflects pretty well as you can see my ski in the reflection. Enjoy!

8905 sounds like a high number, especially since I rarely see the 2000 Tahoe Limiteds. The last one I saw was 6 months ago on my way to Minnesota.

I got two-tone leather interior and heated seats, auto-dimming side mirrors. My truck also came 2" lower than the normal Tahoes. Upgraded suspension and all the extra goodies......I knew that there was a TRUE limited edition tahoe, I thought that some ppl were saying the the Z71 tahoe cldnt be a limited.
