I have a 2003 Tahoe. I have had it for 8 years. Since I got it I would periodically get a service 4x4 message, usually after switching on the fly. A dealership just said it was a glitch and they could reflash the the computer if I bring it in.
Fast forward to now. The last two years only in the winter and usually when it snows my four wheel drive acts up. I get the service four wheel drive message more often. What is more concerning it when I start the car up it will start in 4 low or high and not want to switch back unless I turn the truck off and restart it.
I have read some online and this could be the switch on the dash. Do my symptoms sound like the switch or something more serious? I can change a switch, but I'll have to take it to a shop if it is in the transfer case.
