I read several threads on this subject and I have a question. My 2008 Tahoe is 4wd and I understand the clunk is probably coming from the rear drive shaft that needs lubricating. I have a front and a rear drive shaft. Is the rear one the one that I need to lubricate and since it requires transmission fluid and not grease, do I just remove the rear shaft, then pour transmission fluid on the spline end of the shaft? Thanks for any help!!

I don't have a 4WD, but I just pulled my shaft out and applied an anti seize compound. It should have tranny fluid around it already.
