Hey all, I know there are quite a few threads on this topic but I thought I would throw this up here for any new ideas...
So I got my 99 Tahoe LT about a year ago, has been a great rig. When I got it I put a new drivers side hub on, all new calipers and rotors and rubber brake hoses in the front. About a week ago, and very intermittently (in fact it has only happened twice), whenever I turn left I get a popping/groaning sound and a shimmy/tugging sensation coming from the front end. It almost feels similar to when you turn sharply while in 4WD (I haven't used the 4wd system in months)... I went under the rig, pulled both wheels off and all the ball joints and tie rod ends don't seem to have any play in them. I really don't think its the hub I installed... Any ideas are much appreciated??
Also of note when I had the wheels off both calipers/rotors had a little lateral play in them. I'm pretty sure this is normal tho, as both sides had this play and the bolts were very tight. I think when the wheel is bolted on this play would not be present? (I think the wheel pushes the rotor/caliper flush with the hub surface when the lug nuts are tightened), if anyone can confirm that, that would make me feel better.
Thanks!
