chances are its the 4 wd switch itself ..at least that was the problem with mine ..
i took mine to the dealer since i had that extended warranty and i only got 49k on the truck...

Service 4wd light

I bought my 01 Tahoe after my Astro Van blew up last summer. and on my way back from Colorado to So. Cal my service 4wd light went on several times. I was moderately pissed :mad2: since I just dropped 20 grand for a used car. When I got home, I took it to the dealer to have it checked. Mine ended up being the dashboard switch as well. Nothing else was found wrong and I have not had any problems since the switch was replaced.:thumbsup:
