just lowered my 03 denali with the belltech torsion key kit and belltech nitro 2 shocks. the rides ok, but a pretty stiff at 40mph+. should i switch to spindles in the front or would better shocks do the job?

I would switch to spindles. Anything over a inch with keys will have the front riding rough

Based on your set up, I would also go with spindles for improved ride quality.

The reasoning why is that with a key drop you have reduced uptravel. With enough force you are hitting your bump stops. If you have clearance for it you can run smaller bump stops or eliminate them completely. Most likely however this would lead to rubbing or other issues taking your suspension components beyond their designed specifications. dropped spindles would be better certainly.
