Tow button not working

05 tahoe z71 . Tow button not working is there a place to start before I start tearing into it. Is there a fuse? Does the switch go bad?

not sure about 2005s but my 2000 has an orange wire running by the steering column that has two fine wires in it for the tow haul mode switch. these wires break under movement of the shifter. I would start there.
