Hi Guys,
I'm form Europe, Belgium and there isn't alot of experience with the Tahoe's so I thought I would ask here.
I have a 2001 5.3 Tahoe and I use as a daily driver.
But I also tow alot of cars with my trailer.
(+-6600 pounds/3000kg of weight that's trailer incl car)
(it has normal suspension, no airride, but selectable 4WD)
Now I usually don't put it into TOW mode and always use 2wd drive.
But today my dad went out with the tahoe to pickup a car from a customer,
it was in a hilly route so what he did was press the "TOW" button each time there was a hill in front, but only when not giving it any throttle, once selected he pressed the throttle.
after 4h of driving (2h unloaded to the client, 2h back with the trailer and car on top) he arrived at our home.
The traffice light before he noticed the tahoe wouldn't pull as good anymore,
when he tried reversing onto the lot it wouldn't select Reverse anymore!
and the translight came on.
Now....our garage wants to take it apart tomorrow and bring it to a transmisson workshop
1) is that indeed the best idea?
2) what do i need to tell them?
(remember I do tow alot of weight alot of time)
As i'm unaware of the transshop having alot of knowlodge with this type of transmission i would like to have some information to give them before they start to rebuild it.
thanks!
