VVT System conversion

I have a 2008 Tahoe LTZ that did not have the Variable Valve Timing system in it. We have had to put a new motor in the truck and the replacement has the VVT system, a couple of questions, can I leave the replacement motor as it is as the original did not have the system and the connector to the solenoid control does not exist on my current wire harness, or do I need to do the conversion and can I use the parts from the original motor to convert this?
