I suspect that this is just some kind of wood colored plastic / Polymer. Is car polish and wax the best way to remove streaks and scuffs?

Removed my wood, had it painted and clear coated. (black) I use a microfiber rag and some quick detailer (Meguiars). I was told to NOT use the same cleaner that you would normally use on the leather and trim. I think you have it correct with the wax, just make sure the applicator is super soft and very very clean. :thumbsup:
