I need some help! Going to be upgrading my system. Right now I have 1 Memphis 12 in a sealed box. It's okay, but just that, okay. I am looking into two 12's or 15's. My problem lies in deciding what encloser I want. I know there is a lot of space back there and I want a box to compliment that. What do ya'll have in the back? Should I go sealed? Ported?? Bandpas??? I don't know. I am so indecisive!! Any info would be great!!!!! Also, I found this site witch I plan to order from and I think they have a lot of great deals. So I am going to pass it on to ya'll. Please help in in a direction to go. This $$ is burning a hole in my pocket!!!!!!!
Thanks, P!!!!!!

What's your goal?

I personally use a single 12" JBL. I only want bass reinforcement, I don't care to bump.

If you're looking to bump, I'd look into a band pass box that holds two 12".

Yeah, I want a little more than reinforcement. I have that now. I want a box that knocks! These hoes have loud highs in the front. I like my music loud! But the highs over power my sub. I am going to put 2 in the back and the one I have now in my S10. But what box in the hoe IDK.

idk, id show u all my pics on tahoe sound systems, but i hate uplaoading them, bucz it takes for ever. if u have a better site lemme know and ill shoot u like 10 pictures or so of boxes and shiet for your hoe.. you can get some ideas how ya want it, unless UNLESS your going with the boring square ass boxes then, i cant help ya on that one.. make it custom dude. insted of 2 12's put fcuking like 4 or 8. Get some JL's.. about 400 bucks a sub but **** at 400 bucks for ithink 500 watts.. well there ya go.. youd be deaf if u want to hear that.. lol

if you're going to custom build....

No parallel sides, you'll get reflection within the box.

Ahh, yeah. I am def going with a pre-fab box. I want the best knock for my buck. I have read that sealed boxes will make your subs more sharper/tight. As ported will allow more movement but sounds a bit sloppy/lose but will sound like they hit harder. So I am thinking of 3 12's in a sealed box now.

an odd number of subs is a bitch to get wired right unless your using an amp for each. (that or theres a way i haven't come across yet)

build a competition truck with bullet proof windows and like 20 subs, 20 amps and tons of batteries... haha j/k

back on topic, i have 2 12's in a sealed box i built with IIRC a 600watt amp bridged running 14.4v off a 1.5farad capacitor... sounds small but it'll make your head spin if your in the truck.

If i had the extra cash id run 4 of the square kickers, w/ 4 amps.

That is what I was getting to next. I already have a Memphis 500w Class D Mono channel amp pushing one 450 memphis sub. I am going to get this witch is exactly what I have already. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5180

Then I was just gonna get another matching sub. I was hoping to power these with the two amps. Is there no way to do that? Your prob right though. I will have to do some research aka google search the topic. If there is no way to bridge them I have a old sony explode 800w amp already wired in the hoe. Was hoping to use it for some componets . We will see. P

Yes, 100% correct.

Ported = hit harder & sound muddier (is that a word?!)
Sealed = tight bass, reduced efficiency

again, sealed or not, avoid parallel sides for a "good" design. Parallel sides are easier to build and mass produce.

Couldn't I wire two subs to one amp and the other sub to one amp? In the same box?? would that work or cause problems?

Technically, you could. If you do, I'd do the outter 2 on the same amp and the middle one on it's own amp. You'll run into less problems that way.

i will ask you this. how many DB's are you looking to hit? that will tel you what to get. if you want like mine. i spent a ton of money to get 170 out of a sealed box but you can spend less on a ported box and get the same.
