Hey guys...I am doing a full system, 4x 6.5 components, 2x 12" subs, 2 amps and Alpine head unit.

However, it's being done in stages!

Yesterday I installed the 2 amps and the head unit. All wired.
I ran the amps speakers wires to the factory harness in the dash board. A guy with an install shop with an Escalade told me he did the same thing to avoid the hassle of running new wires into the 4 doors.

So keep in mind, I would then simply remove the factory door speakers and install my new 6.5 components when they arrive. I don't own any subs yet...gonna wait until the speakers are in the doors and then try out various boxes until I like one!

The new stereo and amps work great, however, the factory sub and the two factory speakers in the very rear pilars are still on. Why is this?

Here's my problem....system was working great...then I started the truck and now there is no sound. I left everything as is, and I took an old speaker and touched the wires to the sub amp (no sub hooked up yet!) and there was sound, and I also touched the wires to the 4ch amp and got sound too from each channel.

So sometimes if I shut the truck off and remove the key, then start it up again, I get sound.

Please someone tell me what is happening here!! If I remove the 4 door speakers and hook up new ones, will those rear pilar speakers and stock sub still be on? What do I need to do?!

Thanks

edit...let me add, this is an 02 Tahoe!

Ok for one, The stock speakers and sub are run off an amp, the stock amp was located under the center console for me.

That is why the stock sub and pillar speakers are still on, because a signal is still going to the stock amp, which is still hook'd up and is driving those speakers. I have mine still running too.

I re-ran all my wire. from the amp straight to the door.

So if I'm thinking correctly, It's like ur running the speaker wire from the amp to the wiring harness, which is then possibly running to a stock amp, and is then running to each door. If this is the case I would think this is whats causing the problem.

He must have had an old body escalade, or a new body that someone had already ran new speaker leads for each door and bypassed the stock amps. Your best bet is to run the wires to each new speaker, much better current and clarity with the larger wire.

What is Molex? The rubber tube?

Indeed.

A heavy duty Zip Tie works perfect. Just tape the wire to one end, and pull the zip tie through.(cut the locking feature on the zip tie off)
