so I am upside down in my drivers seat saturday, looking for a hole to run my 1-0 power wire to the cargo area to power my amps and subs.

I've never had a vehicle before that didnt have an extra hole with a grommet to run wires through. I couldnt find anything with enough room for a 1-0 cable. Most of the dash wiring comes though to the left of the brake pedal but that hole is full.

so before I get out the unibit and drill a hole, am I missing something? is there a hole I'm not aware of?

I ran mine under the truck.

There is a great spot right by the bench seat in the rear corner on the floor to come up through.

Battery Side.

There is a spot to get through the fire wall, remove (unclip) the black plastic box right next to the master cylinder you will see a large grommet, take a sharp razor knife a slice along the top of grommet, this is great for smaller wires and maybe a zero guage but going under to the rear sounds better:D

I ran 2ga no problem, plenty of room for 1/0 but under the truck seems like a good idea esp if the wire isn't very flexible. Don't forget some good grommets I usually sealed the wire with a little silicon when running under the vehicle.

I tried to get it through the harness to the right of the booster but it wouldnt fit. May just have to go under the truck.

Ok ,it does look a little different,But in your pic I see a large harness going into the truck, right under that control box, check to see if you can slice the top of that grommet. If you look at that second pic that looks like the same grommet I sliced.

I know it's probably easier to go through an existing grommet, but I always drill a new hole, insert the proper size grommet, then run my cable through with split-loom. I then go back and apply a thin layer of silicone where the loom comes through the grommet to insure water doesn't find its way in. In our body style trucks, there is a perforated circular cutout in the padding to the left of the brake pedal. It has a small tab on it. Pull on that tab and the circular section will come out. This is where I drill and install grommets when running pwr cables or any wiring in these trucks.

Can you give me a better description of the spot by the rear bench on the battery side where you can run this through? A picture wold be great but, lacking that, are there some "landmarks" I can look for to direct me to it?

Easy way to find it, If your going to use the grommet on the drivers side.

remove the interior trim pieces on the drivers side, pull the carpet back. There is like a base that wiring harness' plug into, remove that. The you'll see some wires coming thru the firewall. Pull the grommet towards you. Stick a screwdriver through the hole. Then goto the engine bay and you'll see the screwdriver sticking out.

Thank you for the response. I was interested in the location of the spot in the back, next to the bench seat on the driver's side that WrenchGuy was referring to.

Oh, OK.

I didn't realize you were talking about drilling a hole. Yes, when I was under there I was thinking it wouldn't be that hard to drill a hole in that area. When you said "easy" I thought perhaps you had found an existing grommet that we could use which, you have to admit, is "easier" than drilling a hole.

Thanks for the response.

Just less trim pulling and wire tucking is what makes it easier I guess.

The RCA's and speaker wire interference is less of a problem also.

that does sound easier but from the hole you would drill where exactly would be the best way to run it up to the battery?
