how many miles on your hoe

Haven't been on this forum in a long time. My 97 is up to 233k now, still running strong.

Idea on how to get better fuel economy.

Sounds expensive. Probably the amount spent on new panels would outweigh the amount saved at the pump. Saturns are plastic, and I don't entrust my life to them. I remember reading that for every 100 pounds you take off of a car, you'll improve your 0-60 time by approximately 0.1 sec. With...

    Gas?

I drive my gas-guzzling V8's because I enjoy them. I don't believe in the "Point A to Point B" philosophy of car ownership - if you want something, buy it. I drive 1200 miles a month, and I don't want to be stuck in a plastic sardine can, especially if I'm destined to get in a wreck(12 years...

    My New Look Pictures

Looks good. I'm going for a blackout look myself. I have Rhino Liner on the fender flares and along the entire bottom(done by the previous owner), I'm going to finish it off by lining the bumpers eventually. I hate chrome, but luckily I don't have a chrome grille or anything to deal with.

    97 Tahoe 4x4 2door

That would be an okay purchase for someone who is mechanically inclined - I may have bought it at that price after looking the entire vehicle over. But in your case, it sounds like an expensive proposition. Do you have any plans to do the work yourself? Six years ago I was a complete n00b to...

So There's a Ghost in my Truck

About two months ago I was leaving my girlfriends house, flying down the interstate, trying to get home before it started pouring down rain. Suddenly my interior lights started flickering, my doors locked then unlocked, and my hatch glass popped open, right as it started to pour down rain. I...

    Gas?

It is difficult to believe that a Tahoe 350 can get 18mpg in the city. I get 14mpg out of mine, and I consider myself lucky, as I know many people in the 10-12 range. I only get 18mpg out of my Jeep with an I-6, and about 10mpg out of my CJ-5 with a 350. I drive with a light foot, only city...

    Well I did it !

That's a good trade-off, although I wouldn't have done it myself(Suburban is too big to me). In my area, SUV's are pretty cheap, so you got a lot of money for your Tahoe. You would have been lucky to get $5000 around here.

    2 Door Questions

Incorrect, the Z71 package was available through 1999, I have a 97 Sport Z71. It includes shocks, skid plates and AT tires. http://www.media.gm.com/ca/gm/en/products/chevy_truck/archives/1997Tahoe.html Although the Z71 doesn't offer anything to be considered a "must-have", I have always...

how many miles on your hoe

97 Sport Z71 - just rolled over 200k last week(bought in October @ 191,000) Still running exceptionally strong, previous owner had the tranny rebuilt @ 186,000. This was my first turn to the dark side(I have a few Jeeps, I chose the Tahoe over a Grand Cherokee 5.9), and I must say I love it...

    door adjustment?

Parts from a dealership will always cost a whole lot more than anywhere else. I'm a DIYer, I have always refused having a shop do work for me that I can do myself, or figure out so that I can learn something. Of course, this was an instance where I did not have the time available to do it...

    door adjustment?

Just had this fixed on my 97's driver door yesterday. Bushings/pins set at the dealership cost about $52. Or, you can buy all the parts individually.
