2003 Escalade, 6.0, AWD. The noise was there when I bought the vehicle 4 months ago, I brought it to the dealership, they said that it is nothing to be worried about, and that it won't cause any future problems.

The noise is a type of grinding at no-load throttle, and gets louder during turning. Sounds like the diff gears. I am thinking it is the differential or bad wheel bearings. I have read on the Cadillac forums that a bad front diff is very common. Any thoughts? What is the best way to fix a bad differential? If I have to replace the gears and bearings, should I change the gear ratios (front and rear)? (Don't know what is in it now, but it feels like it could use a taller gear)
