Ok first off, hello all, im glad to be a member here finally!

I have a 1997 Chevy Tahoe 4D with a 5.7.
The fuel pump recently went out so i changed it and it ran fine for 5 days.

I was on my way home from work and it just quit, mid-transit. I checked to see if i was getting power at the relay station, i am. I then proceded to remove the tank and get ready to conquer another fuel pump change. (I was thinking i bought a bad pump)
So i dropped the tank and pulled the pump, exchanged it for a different one, checked the fuel pump connection to see if i was getting power there. i am, and the relay seems to be working fine. (I checked it with a Volt meter, i am getting around 7v on one hot, and 11.6 then down to about 2 when the relay engages.)
My pump still wont kick in. any ideas?

BTW, ive tried 3 different new fuel pumps to no avail.

Any ideas are appreciated.

just a thought but did you do a flush on the tank with the first pump change? thinking that maybe you have a piece of debris stuck in the filter

Not to state the obvious but have you changed your fuel filter located along the frame? About the size of a can of soup. It could have resulted in your first pump burning out as well.

I had about 125K on my '97 Tahoe when the fuel pump went. Dealer replaced pump and filter for a little over $500. Seems high but that replacement pump and the labor is warranted for life. So at 205K when the pump again failed I returned to the same dealership and the pump was replaced for absolutely nothing. I replaced the fuel filter then as well for a small fee.

wow a little bit over 500? thats a lot of money.... i was gonna do that too, but i bought the pump and the filter, and changed both of them on my own for under 100....i guess, being cheap sometimes comes in handy.

$500 IS a lot of money. The dealer in Memphis, Tn charged me over $800 (and they stole my tow chain)for the fuel pump & filter change. It DOES have a lifetime guarantee (I WILL SAVE THE RECEIPT). I will not be patronizing that dealer again, either.
I don't have the time, tools or space to change it myself. Otherwise, I would have & saved myself a lot of $$$

One thing I noticed, they also charged me for the wiring harness that connects to the pump. They claimed that it "goes bad" too.
