Fuel Gauge Fluctuating

Some so called "quick disconnect" are not very good.

Break off the plastic pieces of the send/return lines if you are going to replace the fuel pump/sending unit. Just make sure you break off enough plastic piece so it isn't such a pain to remove when you move the tank away.

2000 Z71 OBS had a brand new fuel pump in it when I bought it. Gauge worked but now does not. I have the dancing needle and it's jumping to full or drops to empty. I'll try the ground first but I do believe it is a issue with the gauge cluster.

It could be the stepper motor in the cluster.
