Fuel Gauge not working

I have a 1996 Chevy Tahoe, this weekend my fuel gauge stopped working staying on "E". Thinking I was out of gas I filled it with $30 but the needle did not move.

All other gauges work fine, the truck start up and drives ok. Any suggestions? What should I check for?

Any help is appreciated.
