OK I am loving the American Racing Mojave teflon coated wheels, but to save a few bucks I was thinkin of this... I have a set of aluminum american racing wheels that are fine, just ugly right now. Can these be powdercoated? I know nothing of powdercoating so I was curious if it is possible. I think they'd be bitchin in a flat black, but $1400 for wheels and tires with the Mojaves and some BFGs isn't what I want to spend.

Thanks for your help.

Find a local powdercoater and they should be able to do them for fairly cheap. I got a deal on my 20s but you shouldn't have to pay much more than $200 for 17s.

Awesome...that's like four for the price of one. One other question though, the finish is wearing off the AR wheels, do I need to strip them down and smooth everything out or do powdercoaters bead blast them to even out the finish? I guess I could sand them down or something.

They can sandblast them for ya, or rent one and do them before you drop them off at the powdercoater.

Let them do it, it will be cheap. Here in Georgia, I was quoted $78 per wheel to soda/sand/walnut blast them (depending on what they needed) and repowerder coat them. They were aluminum wheels too.

The wheels are American Racing Outlaw IIs I figure that'd be a pretty unique wheel on a Hoe with some BFG AT k/o tires, black backed lights, full tint ...keeping it low profile, nothing fancy. These, in a flat black finish

What would look great is if you can leave the outer lip silver.

Got em done

Please understand my sarcasm regarding the 16 inch wheel comment. Got the wheels from the powdercoater yesterday, very well done and super cheap to do. This picture is from my cell phone last night, it is currently dumping snow and there's five inches outside so I won't get better pics until I have it all cleaned up. Yeah I know, nothing special but I dig the look.

Looking good, man! I think that wheel looks better on your truck in black than the chrome. Good choice. Nothin wrong with 16"ers.
