Driving around, listening to some music, I noticed my sub in the back of my '01 Tahoe is blown, and making all sorts of crackling noise.

What can I replace it with?

I'm not looking to build a box, "bump" around town or anything, I just want a replacement sub in there. What fits and is good?

(I have the standard, non-Bose system. I do have 4 Infinity speakers installed, just never bothered with the sub)

8" sub. If you use the factory amp, you can just replace the stock sub with an entry level sub.

I have an RE Audio 8. Like new. Reads 6.7 wired in series.

What impedance is the stock sub I wonder?

Hey JK and anybody else that would know, would an entry level 8" sub sound better than a stock Bose one, whether blown or not, on a stock bose amp? Mines not blown but I would replace it now if it would make enough difference in sound.

If its in the rear its gonna be easier to make the box a little sturdier and put a decent woofer in there. I would say with the right small mods to the enclosure you get some good output from aftermarket woofers.

You don't have to run a subwoofer to its RMS value. If you want more later you can put a little aftermarket amp on it.
