Thermostat

My 01 Tahoe runs at about 210-215 range. I put in a 180 degree thermostat and it runs at the same temp. What is the stock temp thermostat? and it still jumps up to 230 degrees randomly then goes back to 210. BTW im in WI and its 20 degrees out.

Are you using the temperature gauge on your dashboard by chance? A lot of those are idiot gauges that don't give accurate results.

i installed the hypertech programmer III and the 180 thermostat. The thermostat had both fans in my 06 z71 flexfuel running constantly. it sounded like an airplane going down the street. also i ended up losing mpg and even seemed like power was down instead of up. i pulled the 180 thermostat out and reinstalled the stock one. everything seems to be going fine now, even though hypertech recommends their 180.
