I just bought a brand new Tahoe 2008 - When I'm in idle (Park/Braked/Or moving under 3 mph) - The engine block shakes and causes the entire Tahoe to shake. You can feel it sitting in the car. It's somewhat subtle usually, but at other times it's very noticeable. I took it back to the dealership - they ran tests, hooked up their computer, and said nothing is wrong with it. Told me to drive it for a few weeks and if it still does this to bring it back.

When I got home, I opened the hood and you can literally see the engine block shake every few seconds sometimes heavier shakes than others, and clearly this is what is causing the car to shake. Does anybody have a solution for this? Or understand why a brand new 2008 tahoe would do this? Please help. I'm also not happy that the dealership did not acknowledge the problem. If the problem remains, they're going to have to deal with a very loud and unhappy customer.

Thanks,
Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I would still take it back and go in with the service tech and show him what you see. After two weeks that's not good and if the problems persist I would look into the lemon law process which its a pain. I hope they can resolve the problem.

Had that problem with a Subn with a big block. Turned out to be an injector. It didnt show up on the Tech II.

Who diagnosed the problem? Was it an obvious diagnosis for the symptoms the car was making? Or are there a million possible reasons for a new engine to slightly shake?

Thanks

Get them to check individual pulse widths and the duty cycles on each injector. My brother's dmax had an injector failure and when he checked the balance rates with his predator he could see the #7 was fluctuating. I would not accept the truck back until it was alleviated, you didn't spend 40k on materials and there should be some service provided for your money.

^ Excellent idea. There are flow benchs out there that can measure flow, show spray patterns at different RPM's, etc. They will start with a predetermined amount of fluid being dispersed into 8 individual canisters simultaneously to allow you to see if any of them are stronger than the others. Very interesting to watch.

I had the same problem with mine after only 3000 miles on ti. I turned out to be a plug wire which came a bit loose. Would be worth to check em out, just tight em up by hand and if it doesnt work, I would take it back to the dealer. Hope this helps. Regards.

Also,
Got in it today and noticed at 2-3000 rpm, the car still shakes. So it's not just in idle. Hope they figure this out, cause I like my Tahoe, it's got exactly what I wanted in features and looks, too bad the engine runs like crap.
One more thing - When I drove their demo , seemed much quicker in acceleration than mine. Both Tahoe's had the same engine, could this also be correlated to the fuel injection?

Thanks for all the advice

Thanks for all the advice, checked the spark plugs, seemed all snug and in place. I'm taking it back tomorrow (Monday) and telling them they have to fix this and won't accept it until they do. It bothers me because last time I was there they said they don't even feel it, which is just a lie. This seems like a good dealership too, that is why we dealt with them and why I am so surpised by this.

I'll be sure to use the following...
- Lemon Law - they have to fix it or replace the car
- Complain until they fix it.
- Check the injectors
- check individual pulse widths and the duty cycles on each injector with flow benches.

Have them check the motor mounts as well. If one is snapped / cracked, this can happen (been there, done that).

I have the same problem when sitting in idle/stop at a red light it will slightly shake. But it does not shake when driving at all only when in idle or stop.... i have 1911 miles on it and the dealer told me to put more miles on it. I took it when it had 400 miles on it.... the shaking is almost gone now.... Hope this helps.... But if you have a problem shaking while driving now thats a problem.... keep us posted on the outcome.... let me know if there is a fix

I have an '08 Tahoe with 1100 miles on it and I am experiencing the same issue. Although on my Tahoe it only happens when I am stopped at a light and not all the time. Klydel please keep us updated as to how they find and solve the issue.

I'm taking it back on Thursday, bought it in Frisco (Texas) and we live about an hour from there. I want to make sure I take it by when the service guy is available to speak to. I was sitting in the tahoe today waiting in a drive thru, and couldn't believe the shaking. Drives me crazy that this is my brand new 40K vehicle. Amazing.

Hey Seagrave - Does yours also run rough when in park? Mine will run rough from 1000 rpm to 400 rpm when in park or when at a stop with the brake on.
