If it isn't the coolant temp sensor I'd look at the fuel filter, fuel pump, and injectors. Somewhere along the line something isn't functioning like it should, and usually with an issue like this it is delivery related.

Personally, I wouldn't do it either. When you have something that is consistently going wrong, especially after trying to fix it several times in a row, usually a sign of even worse things to come.

It could be a bad starter, but then again, could be a host of other things. Might have an electrical short that's causing it to drain the battery, your alternator might be bad, no telling really unless you get it into the mechanic.

Most modern cars are built to last quite a long time. As long as they have been maintained properly and regularly they should outlasts 150,000 miles easily. As long as they're asking for a fair price and you are comfortable with what you're getting, then you are definitely good to go!
