    Dual Battery

The solenoid route is definitly the cheaper one.

    Dual Battery

All this is correct. However if you are running your "monster" music system (and lighting and whatever else) while driving down the road the stock alternator may not be able to keep up (most likely will, if it is not too wild, but I have also seen/heard of dual alts. being used to power these...

    Dual Battery

Here are a few articles (among many out there) that you might want to take a look at: http://www.bcae1.com/battiso.htm http://www.geocities.com/harald_nancy/isolator.htm

    Dual Battery

You would need to do an analysis on how much extra current you need and the output of your current alt. (ie: which "stock" alt. you have) before making that decision. You might want to take a look over in the Audio... section for some help. Not too difficult but you may need to upgrade some...

    Dual Battery

Actually that is the isolator that I have because I have a 190 amp alternator. You need to first determine what size alternator you have before buying the isolator.

    Dual Battery

What are you trying to accomplish by adding a second battery? If you just want more current for starting, then connect the batteries in parallel as suggested by LowHo97. However if you want to separate the batteries, like I do, you need a battery isolator (or integrator) so leaving the acc. on...

    anti-lock brakes

First you need to get the code out of the BCM to see what is causing the light to come on. From what I see and have been told, there is a good chance that a speed sensor in one of the wheels has gone bad or a connection was knocked loose (like if it came on after having new brakes installed or...

    swing out tire carrier

I am definitly adding horsepower with the 383 but I was really looking for more low end torque. With the 383 I will have both.

    Engine Rebuild

I recently purchased a 383 for my Tahoe from Precision Engine in Houston. It is at the shop where I am taking the truck tomorrow to have it installed. I can't tell you much about it except that Rick was real helpful and the mechanic who is installing the engine says it looks good. A crate...

    swing out tire carrier

I am real happy with the Rancho lift. Those that put it on and those that aligned it were impressed with the heavy duty make up of it. There is another section here where lifts are discussed (if you haven't been there already). As far as gas mileage goes, I can't really say because I had the...

    swing out tire carrier

These trucks are great aren't they? I spent much time looking for a swing out tire carrier and there just wasn't alot of good options available. See here for what I have http://www.kenmtn.com/ I purchased the multi carrier with jack and jerry can carrier for my off-road endeavors but...

    99 Tahoe won't shift to 4lo + a clunk

Recently had to replace my 4WD switch because the 4WD wouldn't engage properly and that took care of the problem. As far as the "clunk" is concerned, the recommended lube for the yoke is GM's Special Lub(e)ricant (I kid you not). That worked for me.

    Alternate 2nd Batt location?

Do the '95s use the air cleaner mounted on top of the throttle body? I figure if I didn't have the air filter box mounted on the fender in my '96, I would have enough room to mount a second battery there.

    Advantages/Disadvantages between Tailgate or BarnDoors?

On the criteria list for when I bought my Tahoe was barn doors. I wanted the barn doors for 2 reasons: 1. The truck I had before (Ford Bronco) had a tailgate and I disliked crawling over it (this becomes even more of an issue if the truck is lifted. 2. I intended to put a multicarrier...

why dont my back doors stay open???

Got mine at the dealer. To replace #16 Remove the "C" retaining clip off the bottom of the pin. Pull the pin to remove #16 Install new #16 with pin Reinstall "C" clip A few minute job. I suggest applying grease to various surface allong the way.

why dont my back doors stay open???

If the doors are hard to open that is a different issue (unless you are talking about the last few inches because that is when the retaining device comes into play). I replaced the hinge pins and the retaining hooks (or whatever they're called), shortly after acquiring my Tahoe and all works...

why dont my back doors stay open???

I have had to replace mine because it appeared to lose the temper on the hook. If the hook is not broken off the end I suppose you might be able to take it off and pound on it to tighten it up. IMHO I would get new ones.

    Steel wheel help

There's actually a number of choices in steel. Take a look a Cragar in a 342 or 362 (black) but others in chrome. I have the Cragar 397 in a 17x8 for my skinnier off road tires. The Eagle 16x10s are used for summer/on road.

    Differential covers

Those nice looking diff covers are pricey. When I replaced mine I made sure it had the fill/drain plugs. I also replaced the trans pan with a higher capacity pan and a drain plug.
