Made the best of the rain

A tow strap is the best way to go. If using cable or chain, drape a jacket or heavy towel on it to asorb the kinetic energy if it breaks. I believe the synthetic winch cable's now made, wont whip if broken. Also a trick is if being pulled from the front, raise your hood.

    Fuel Mileage

Just wanted to post my mileage from my last trip to the mountains. I just bought a 04 Z71 Tahoe with the 5.3 flex. Its got stock tires(for now :naughty:) 265-70-17 goodyear wranglers. 3.73 gears. I was expecting about 15-16 on the hiway. Hand figuring the mileage over 1500 miles.....I got a low...

I would. I mean, once at 100k miles, even if you dont use the 4x4, there are parts that are still moving and the oil still breaks down. Its cheap insurance. Even though you dont put the truck in 4x4 mode, the gears still turn, the bearings still need lube, the actuator just isnt engaging the...

Spongy Brakes after hubs/pads Replacement - No air in system!

I wouldnt ever push the brake fluid back thru the master cylinder. It will mess up the ABS. I dont know the exact reason but every vehicle that I've seen with that done the ABS will throw a code and act funny. Best thing to do it crack the bleeder when re-seating the pistons back. Other than...

OH, forgot to add, service the transfer case with GM Auto-trac II fluid. The only place you can get it is thru a GM dealer. $8 per qt and you'll need 2. Thats if you have the 246 transfer case. Its the one with the "auto4wd, 2hi, 4hi, 4lo" button on the dash. It takes the special blue fluid.

IMHO: Fuel system cleaning. When you get to 1/2 tank of fuel, put 1 can of "seafoam" in the fuel tank and run it until almost empty. Then fill up as usual. Wala, fuel system clean. Just about any autoparts store, even walmart has "seafoam". Transmission service. If they dont change the filter...

    2002 tahoe leveling kit/ alternator

On the torsion bar thing, I've heard of using a big "c" clamp or even bottle jacks. How much would a local shop charge you? Them torsion bars are under a lot of pressure. I cant believe it would cost more than an hour of labor to get a shop to do the key install. On the alternator, I believe 140...
