I did the change on my 96 Hoe when I replaced the engine, I kept getting rich mixture codes and it was indeed the poppet vlaves. Increaded power and economy after the chane. Well worth the 238.00 i spent on it.
I'll bet the turn signal multifunction cluster switch failed on column. Believe it or not. All light functions go through that turn head light dimmer control switch.
255K on 96 and still pull a 4K lbs trailer 400 miles a week with it. had to rebuild tranny at 150K and fuel pump at 190K. No Smoke. Volan cold air intake and flowmaster cat back 3" exhaust.
I never have placed a lot of faith in the forum search tools. To replace sending unit make access to top rear of engine. It is loaced just behind the distributor. It takes a 1 1/16" wrench or special socket.
You might as well start shoping for new pump. Several around aftermarket for $200.00 or less. I went through floorboard on my 4dr rather than drop tank. Faster and not as messy.
I have towed a 7200lb 27ft trailer with my 96 LS several times. Need load distribution and lots of trailer brake though. The Tahoe brake system will bearly stop itself.
Sounds like the prior owner dumped the truck by trading in and your dealer probably got a good deal at the auction clearing house. 5 Months after used truck purchase means it is prabably all on you now. I'd keep the truck and work out the small stuff that pps up. I had to put an engine in mine...
Increased my performance, lost a lot of trouble codes, burning lots of rubber with the extra power i got from the change over. As 41 said, was worth every penny. All 25000 of them.
I got power, and economy with cold air intake and cat bak flowmaster exhaust. The engine can't suck in if it can't blow out too. Increased airflow requires increaded exhaust handeling capacity.
I noticed the key fob distance getting shorter and shorter each year. New batteries don't help, the fob just dies. Both of mine are kaput now and am looking for a way to replace them. Don't want to steel you thread, but if you find something let us know.
I've had several fuel pump problems with my 96 pump. First pump I cut an access panel hole in the floor under the rear seat. just had to replace momp last night 5 years since last replacement and all I had to do was drill out rivets and scrape off body panel sealer. Right to pump and was done in...
