So I'm looking to buy an old jeep or 4x4 something for off road driving at work. I dont have anyone to help me drive back whatever I buy. Can I pull it with my tahoe, thinking like jeep cherokee or something. Do I get something from uhaul? Thanks. I pull my horse all the time with my tahoe
Ok the air tube thing popped off. Need to reattach it to the compressor. But it's not wanting to go back on and I have never seen a clamp like this. Do you need grease or something? Thanks
SO long story short last year the compressor burnt out. I ordered new shot air compressor from Arnott and replaced the rear shocks too -about 100k miles. (thinking dry-rot shocks were leaking and possibly cause of burnt out compressor. Plus the warrenty on compressor was void w/o new shocks)...
Hey All,
I have a 2004 tahoe that I have used to pull my horse trailer for the past several years. It hauls that great and I have never had ANY problems with that. The trailer is a steel 2 horse (~2500#) and I usually pull just one one horse (1300#) sometimes 2 horses, always does great, very...
Sometimes I think a practice is perfectly fine, then I google it and I get a ton of crazy scary stuff!
I'm moving and I am hoping to put my mattress and/or boxspring (TWIN) on the roof rack of my tahoe.
I have read plenty of horror stories, but I would be legit about it and use at least 3...
I have finally finished replacing the air suspension compressor in my '04 tahoe [see recent post on that].
Now everything is fixed, but:
1. the nearly worthless 1yr warrenty on the compressor is voided if you don't also replace the shocks (if they are leaking your compressor will burn out)...
Ok my final update on this!
As I noted before, a fella helped me nock the dang thing off. Now I realize it would have been much easier to get off if I had known how it was actually attached. The 3 bolts went into larger key-hole type holes, then slid down into a narrow groove to stay secure...
update
new update. Finally got the compressor off the car, successfully (I think) spliced the wires and transferred that over.
The arnott compressor also came with a dryer re-build kit, which is basically new desiccant. Is it necessary to do that or can I just put the old one back on? I ask...
Ok new update! Ordered the compressor from Arnott. Seems like a piece of cake...
But no, it never is, good thing I'm stubborn.
This afternoon's task was to simply remove the part from the car- tomrrow was reserved for re-wiring etc. 3 bolts, should be easy. And 2 of the bolts are easy, right...
Ok update, I took it to the dealer and it will be $800! for them to JUST replace the compressor. And they won't be able to check for leaks until after that.
I'm thinking I can probably replace the compressor myself (to the time of a part for about $200) and if I hear the compressor running...
Before I posted this I did a good amount of research looking at other threads.
A few weeks ago the 'service ride control' came on in my tahoe. damn. everything seemed fine. After a little research I learned that this was most likely the auto-level air ride rear suspension. IE expensive.
The...
thanks for the info. I ended up just having him do the plugs. ANd I talked to the mechanic afterwards, not the useless service rep....
And we looked under the hood, he said he basically had to hammer and break the only plugs because they were stuck and dry rotted. But now they are all greased...
Just took my tahoe to the dealer. It's getting close to 100k and I wanted them to look it over- Mainly change the spark plugs because I was going to do those myself but it turned out to be a colossal p.i.t.a to do because the've never been done and they are extremely inconvenient to get too...
My Tahoe just crossed over 75k (bought the car at 55k) and I want this thing to keep running, especially since the transmission clunked out around 68k, trying to avoid another $3k bill!
I do the oil every ~3k and the fuel filter once a year (which is about every 10-15k).
I couldn't find any...
