Door Bushings aka, the good, the bad, the ugly

I would be very surprised if they were rusted in. Brass does not rust and I've never seen pins that had any amount of rust on them. BUT they are tight. With mine, I had to take a long punch from the top side, with the door fully open and a BFH to get mine out. I dimpled the end of the pin with a...

    rear thud noise help

I had a 1999 Tahoe with 410,000 kilometres that never made a sound. The 1999 Yukon I now have had 100,000 Kilometres and the clunk when I got it. I greased mine and 20,000kilometres later it is fine. I used a high temperature lithimum grease. You asked about other maintenance items. Get...

    rear thud noise help

I would suggest pulling the driveshaft and putting a good quality grease in the splined end where it fits over the tailshaft. These things are famous for the thump you are discribing.

    Four-wheel drive

I haven't seen any indication that any of the Tahoes were factory equipped with front end diff locks. At best they are a three wheel drive to my knowledge.

    Catalytic Converter Situation

At around 380,000 kilometres, my cats started throwing codes. I went to an auto wrecker and bought some low kilometre cats and pipe ($120), work fine till I totalled her last year.

Might as well start if off?

Switching to 4wd on the fly should not have hurt anything. If yours is anything like mine, in Auto 4wd it will engage all by it self. I've had it engage and disengage at posted speeds. Don't let her in the back seat, you life will be hell.

    Having a problem....help?

My first check point would be U Joints on drive shaft or bent drive shaft? then tire out of round? then motor transmission mounts? These would all be checks not replacement.

Code P0141 -Engine Light On-O2 Sensor

I certainly hope DefEddie is wrong, because every GM I've owned has #1 cylinder on the driver's side. I'm in Canada and I know that American and Canadian models are different but I don;t think they are that different. The two I own presently (5.7 & 5.3) have #1 on the driver's side.

Door Bushings aka, the good, the bad, the ugly

I did the doors on a lifted Chev Pickup a while back. I used two step ladders, one board, some blocking and several furniture pads to support the door. Worked great, and did not have the holy christ posted earlier. A strong buddy works well as well although, the step ladders don't drink beer.

1999 Yukon, noise in front of engine

Not sure how I would get pictures that would offer much perspective without removing the rad, etc. The shroud is fine, the fan blades are straight and not broekn. It sounds like it comes from the crank pulley, timing chain cover area but really hard to pin down the exact location. I thought...

1999 Yukon, noise in front of engine

Good Monring all. My 1999 Yukon has an annoying noise in the front of the engine. It started after the surpentine belt delaminated. My wife was driving and drove it home. The belt stayed intact but some cords whipped the hell out of the hood pad and hoses. Now there is this annoying sound from...

    4WD Problem - Help!

I had a 99 Tahoe with the manual shift on the floor. On dry pavement in fwd it would do exactly what you describe. I now have a 99 Yukon with the electronic shift on the dash. In 4wd Auto it runs beautifully, but in 4wd Hi it acts just like the 99 Tahoe. I don't think there is any differential...

    4WD Problem - Help!

If you are on bare pavement, any 4wd will load up and fight you. Try it on gravel or at least on wet pavement. Tere may very well be nothing wrong with your truck.

    Heater works, then it doesn't.

It sounds like your problem is a little different than mine, Hippiechaser. My would come on then go off and stay off. If I understand your problem, it comes on, goes off, then comes on when the heater is turned off and on. Mine did not change when I turned the heater on and off, however, I fixed...

1998 chevy tahoe lt;3rd row seat hardware

Just a couple of thoughts. Try an auto wreckers, they may have the bolts from a wreck. Or carriage bolts are available from most fastner suppliers, take a picture and some measurments to them and they should be able to fix you up. Or use a nut splitter to get the nut off and run thread chaser...

    Courtesy Lights, staying on

Changed all the door switches last evening. Same problem, the courtesy lights stay on when the key is off. After reading and re reading the wiring diagram, I decided to depress the courtesy ligt light override on the head light switch. :umn: The courtesy lights now work as they are intended...

Door Bushings aka, the good, the bad, the ugly

Just did my drivers door as well. Similar to Hardwarz, I used a floor jack to support the door, with a rag to prevent scratches from the jack. I did the top one first, then the bottom one. What gave me the most grief was getting the door spring out and then back in again. The spring has to be...

Denali CD Stack into a Yukon SLT

I purchased a 1999 Denali CD 6 disc head unit on ebay. I want to put it into my 1999 Yukon SLT. Anyone done this, what is involved? I think I need an amp for this to work with the stock system, right? Any suggestions. My intent is to mount the head unit in the console, any thoughts?

    Courtesy Lights, staying on

Thanks for the info. I've got the fuse out right now, but with the nights getting longer I think it's time to fix whatever is haywire with the interior lights.

    Courtesy Lights, staying on

I've a 1999 Yukon SLT. The courtesy lights flick on and off while driving, stay on when key is shut off. Prior to starting this, the door open buzzer would buzz for a few seconds, then stop then alternate between working and not when the drivers door was open. I've tried jumping the door...
