full time

i have a 2004 5.3 and I now have had two Chevrolet mechanics tell me different answers on the 4 wheel drive. Please help #1 always leave the selector in full time four wheel drive or it won't work when you need it. #2 always leave it in 2 high until you need it and then go either 4 high/low...
