Hello all! New here, but hope you can help me with a small question.

I have a 2001 Tahoe with a broken torsion bar mount bushing (the rear bushing for the torsion bar that is welded to the frame - see pictures of the part). My question is: When removing the old mount/bushing, do I need to unload the torsion bar in any way, or can I just let the car stay on it's tires, cut of the old mount/bushing and insert the new one?

I'm new to torsion bars (I'm more into older cars ;-)), so I'm just wondering if I need to unload the torsion bar in any way before removing the old mount/bushing.

Thanks in advance.

The bar must be removed from the vehicle. You need a special tool to do this and it can be dangerous without the proper knowledge.
