The Tahoe has always started, recently it sat for three weeks and we had to jump it from another vehicle, after 10-15 Min of charging it started. We put it on a slow charge for 4 hrs and the battery came up to abt 85%.

The tahoe started OK, It sat at my friends body shop for a couple of weeks and he started it every other day. Last week when he started it the low oil pressure, shut engine down warning came on. He did say it was slow to turn over. After Checking the battery and re-charging we put a load test on it and noted it to be a little weak, so we installed a new H6/48 battery. The Tahoe started and the low oil light never came back on. The next day the Tahoe would not turn over, the battery was dead. Re-charged the battery and reinstalled in Tahoe. Connected the Pos. leads and put a volt meter between the neg batt. post to the neg, cable and note it is drawing 12.5 Volts.

With a 100% batt. we get nothing when we try to start it, no clicking of the starter etc. We have cleaned all batt. post and connecting cables.

Any ideas other than a bad starter...

It could be a bad starter, but then again, could be a host of other things. Might have an electrical short that's causing it to drain the battery, your alternator might be bad, no telling really unless you get it into the mechanic.

Tahoe starter problem

After inspection and cleaning all batt. connection, still no start. New Starter, we found the bendix spring broke in old starter. Still No start. We then removed the brass/copper type terminal strip hooked to the pos. batt connection. Tahoe now starts.

Go Figure!!!

Figures! Always the last thing you look at. ;) At least you have a new starter that you're not going to have to worry about for quite some time. Did you replace the terminal strip, or just remove it?

Anyways, I'm glad that you were able to diagnose the problem. Hopefully your rig keeps running well for a long time!:happy160:
