4wd not working

I have an 02 Tahoe Z71 and the 4WD will not engage. It engaged once on the street and my front tires chirped. Any ideas?

If it went chirp, bang or chip, pop you could have a problem.

good chance it could be the switch, mine did they same thing, 4wd service light would come on and it would enage by it selfs sometimes. I replaced the 4wd switch and have had no problems since getting mine through the different positions now (2004 Hoe)

i had the same problem with mine. i ended up changing the switch ($80), but it kept doing the same thing. Eventually it stopped and i have not had a problem since. so i am assuming it was the switch and it just took a few days to correct itself.
