96 Tahoe tailgate

I've got a 96 and the hatch rod never stays on the correct rod holder ( idk the exact part name right now). Basically i've called a few dealers and no one can even get that part. My question is, is there any cost effective fix or should i get one from a junkyard? I think if i find any in my state they're going to be just as bad as this one. It's all rusted but the tumbler looks ok.

Well it's still in the vehicle. I'll get it out tomorrow or if i can find a parts diagram to pin point what i need ill do so.

I hate to say it, but, junk yard or fabricate it yourself out of something. I am afraid the fact that there isn't even a number for it in the schematic is a bad sign....

Ik it's one of those *&^(%*$%*^ moments haha. I'll take it out and see about re-manufacturing this part. Maybe I'll get rich off that haha
