A/C question

I just recently acquired a 2004 Tahoe, tried the A/C yesterday and it does not work, just blows hot air. There is a note in the service record that states, "Needs low side line schader leaks" For now I am just going to try and replace the schrader valve and see if that solves the issue, I will probably bring it in and have it looked at after that there could be a lot of contamination in the system. There is no freon in the system now. Per the pic I attached it looks like the high and low service ports are on the same line with the orifice tube between them. I think the low pressure port is nearest the fire wall. Does that sound right?
