Guys,
hope you don`t mind if this was not Tahoe or Suburban but I start getting desperate and need some technical advice. And I know there are very expereiced guys around here. It is about my `73 Oldmobile Custom Cruiser with a leaking power steering unit. My understanding is there is a high pressure hose between gear and pump and a low pressure back to pump/reservoir. No steering the fluid simply goes in circles withoiu real pressure. The "low pressure pipe" is the one I cannot make stop leaking, strange enough. It only leaks when you turn the steering wheel to the end (when you hear the pump aching...). Obviously at that stage there is quite some pressure even on the low presure side, ATF comes out between cap nut and housing then, additionalyy between hose and pipe (no high pressure hydraulic fitting). I do not dare to tighten cap nut further without screwing it up, it is a cone seal between the alloy pipe and the housing, no o-ring or something. It is clean and all surfaces look well, no scratches. I cannot believe it. Can someone sahre some thoughts, please?
