I have recently purchased a 09 Tahoe. When I turn on the air conditioning, the light in the push button blinks 2 or 3 times then stays off. Is this normal? Is the air working? Do I need to take it in to the shop (12 month bumper to bumper warranty).

Most likely Your A/C system is low on refrigerant there is low refrigerant pressure cut off switch to protect the A/C compressor.
You should have it looked at by somebody that does A/C service, a good scan tool will also show the system pressure.

found problem

Yes, low refrigerant. Took a day to find the leak, fix and charge the AC system.
It does seem like a dumb question but, it has been cold here and I could not tell if it was working or not. The salesman was no help saying, "it is telling you that you should use outside air when it blinks like that."
