For quite some time I was having problems with the battery draining when my 2004 Tahoe was parked.
I spent hours measuring the current draw on all of the fused circuits in order to find the culprit, back in 2023.
I finally zeroed in on the Bose sound system. It seemed to be drawing power even when the car was off and the computer had gone to sleep, which takes a while.
So, I decided that I would re-configure the power going to the "Radio" circuit so that it only gets power when the ignition key is turned on.
Since I made this change, I have not had a problem. It's July 2026.
Here's what I did...I determined that the SBA (Supplemental Brake Assist Pump Motor) circuit switches on/off when the Ignition key is turned.
I bought the Amazon circuit taps and connected two of them to take power from the SBA +12V, run it through the fuse that's on the circuit tap, and then bring that power back to both the "Load" side of the SBA fuse receptacle and also to the "Load" side of the Radio fuse receptacle.
These fuses are in the box under the hood on the driver side.
The only negatives of this is that the Radio loses track of the time, so it's 12:00 every time the vehicle is started.
This Tahoe also has a DVD player in the ceiling, and this boots-up every time the vehicle is started, and you hear the motor running for a few seconds.
Both are a small price to pay to finally fix this problem in my Tahoe.
Your battery drain issue may be different. You have to measure the current being drawn in the fused circuits to see if one of those is a problem.
To measure the current, sometime you need to wait 15 minutes to wait for the system to go to sleep after you turn off the vehicle.
Keep in mind that all of the electronic components in the 04 Tahoe are interconnected by the one-wire digital communication system, connected back to the Body Computer Module.
In my case, something was keeping the Bose amp. powered. I don't know what the root cause of that is, but my brute-force solution has worked.
