Has anyone cracked open the assembly to paint then inner portion? I've heard that it is really hard to break the glue free so you have to basically cut along seam then re-glue.

I would say just use heat on it. I did the same thing on my 98 Malibu and it's just some kind of gooey like caulk. Very messy stuff but takes a little even pressure all the way around to make sure you don't crack it.

I've only seen two with cleared headlights -- I'd like to do it too. The guy posted on here a few times a LONG time ago -- search on "bake your lights" and you should find his post and pics. I haven't got the "stones" to tear out my lights and throw 'em in the oven.

I would like to know too? I asked this same guy MANY months ago and never got a response. I think it was on a different forum though.

I agree! I sent PM's and replied to his prior thread with no luck.

Removed or Painted

I did this on my white one

P1010047.jpg

Hey PatrykKoul I have read your other post on clearing & blacking out the head light but for the pic of the white denali it looks like you just removed the orange reflector and not painted it chrome as you instructed to do in the other post. Is it possible to just remove the reflector b/c by painting it you would limit the visibility of the bulb?

Thanks in advance,

oh yeah good work!

Looks to me like it's removed as well! I wonder how chrome paint would look? I dunno -- seems like a pretty simple mod, but you really have to work to get the lights out and apart... Either way, I think it looks really cool.

My wheels are 24s. Thanks for all the comments guys. Yeah, I just noticed too that I just took the reflector out. I remember when I did this though, you could see 3 small holes from the reflector and it looked kinda funny. My side corner still shines well cause the paint on the reflector isn't very thick. It shines through still. I don't know how the yukon or tahoe lights are, but on the denali the reflector isn't all orange, half is orange half is clear. On the yukon light, it looks like the whole piece is orange.
