04 tahoe 5.3l with CAI and blackbear tune. I put a 3 inch to 5 inch tip on it today. (there is a sound difference at idle and low rev it exagerates the idle more) But I am wanting to put a different muffler than stock on. Flowmasters kits are all 50 series...i was thinking a 50 suv but not sure how loud it will be. Previously had a 95 tahoe with headers no cats and single in dual out 44...sounded nice but too loud for me now. (i was young and i have since learned!) I am guessing the 5.3 will have a different sound than the old 5.7's did. By the way I love the flowmaster sound so there is no real chance of a different brand choice.

So question is, how loud will a 50 be vs. a 70? will 70 be like the stock muffler and therefore a waste of time? Or will it still give you that roar but quiet the interior more? My only worry is that i plan on doing LT headers and possibly removing cats(or hi flow ones) at some point and don't want to have to buy another muffler, plus I have to please my wife so I don't want to end up with the sound that the 40's and 44's make. So being that flowmasters kit is a 50 series has or does anyone run a 70 series?

Also is there any truth to mounting the muffler rotated 90 degrees from "normal" to help with interior resonance? I have heard this helps and had planned on doing so. I assumed the smaller width toward the floor doesn't give off as many sound waves?

Your experience with these mufflers would be greatly appreciated. I plan on keeping it a single exit to keep my cost down. (sad to say i love the look of duals but price wise it isn't worth it...at least not yet)

I've got the 50 suv series and I love it ! It has a real mellow rumble to it and not to loud cruising speeds, you stomp on it you'll definitely hear it! Cabin noise with windows up isn't much louder than stock! But thats me its always different other with people! Best choice I made as far as a muffler goes!

Thanks for the input. I like the sound flowmaster makes outside of the vehicle and just dont want all the resonance in the cab like they usually get. I have been thinking a 70 might be too quiet inside and out. It is good to here that people like the 50 series, i have read that a lot of people like it when i was searching the web for sound clips and such.

I would go with the 50 series Like me I didn't want to be to loud in or outside the truck it the perfect match to what I was wanting out of a muffler! If you go with it you won't be disappointed with it! But like I said thats my IMHO!
