Fuel Gauge

I just replaced the fuel pump in my '99 Tahoe. If the truck is on acessory or is running the fuel gauge operates correctly. When the truck is off the fuel gauge always shows 1/4 tank? Is this correct?

Before I had problems and relpaced my pump the fuel gauge always showed the same level of gas in tank wether on or off.

when your truck is off does it really matter knowing how much gas u have? and FYI: all tahoe's 95-99 does this even mine does it....so there's nothing wrong with yours.
