Haynes Manual

For 25 bucks you can get your manual at the parts store. It's a great reference and you would kill a lot of questions with it.

the haynes manuals are ok, but does anybody know if the service manual the chevy dealer uses is available anywhere on-line? (as a pdf download )

I don't know if it's local, but in Sweden, Haynes publish a soft-cover manual by CHILTON. I bought this a couple of days ago, but I really dont think it's that good. I remember thinking the Haynes manual was really informative in an easy to learn kind of way. I had it for my former Blazer -88. Nobody seems to import the "real" Haynes manual here...
