So while I was trying to check out if my 2001 Tahoe had Auto Ride shocks or not, I came upon this. I have no knowledge about what this is, or is it's supposed to look aligned or not, but to me it looks terrible and I need to fix it as soon as possible!

Can someone tell me what those rubber red things are called? And can someone tell me why one side is floating off of the metal bar and one side is sitting on the metal bar?

How hard will it be to fix this situation?

Those are your bumpstops. They control arms are not supposed to touching at all. I would say that your torsion bars are out of adjustment. Have you lowered your truck in the front? The ride quality must be terrible.

Most of them look like that after awhile, just go to the dealer and buy some new ones. Hose them down with white lithium grease and pop the new ones in, should ride better but I'm guessing they still do the job. On another note they're called jounce stops because most trucks will rest on them even at ride height, fvckin gm for ya.

I'd say 95% of people could give a sh*t what they're called, just some more useless knowledge but it is helpful when ordering parts at the dealer.

I appreciate it guys!

My truck has not been lowered at all. I added a 3 inch body lift to it but I don't think that messes with any of that stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions though, I will just stop by the GM dealership and get some. On www.autozone.com they are around $20. Does that mean that GM's price will probably double that Autozone price?

To my understanding, it's just one long bolt that's holding those bump stops in? So it should be easy as pie to replace the new ones..? And also, are they supposed to be TOUCHING or NOT TOUCHING the control arm?

Get some from the dealer, belltech and some other aftermarket suspension companies sell a lower profile polyurethane stop but I wouldn't buy those unless you plan on lowering your truck.

Alright cool! Hopefully they don't cost more than $20.
