i've got this problem with my interior lights, whenever i open the driver side door, the automatic lights dont always come on. sometimes it will be several days of darkness, then sometimes they work constantly. however if i open any other door, the lights always come on. anybody had this problem before?

Interior lights

I have also noticed that my interior lights don't come on all the time when you open the door. I found the issue to be with the door open contacts located on both sides of the dashboard. You can jiggle the plunger contact switch and the lights will flicker. My guess is that the switch is breaking down internally. Check that out and see if yours does the same.

It's called a door jamb switch. I just got done replacing both of mine. They're at Advance Auto for as little as $3.99. Not the easiest little buggers in the world to install though. :) My advice to you - don't worry about tearing the old ones up, you're not going to re-use them anyway, and there's about no way in the world that you're getting them to come out of the hole the same way they went in.
Pop the heads off of them, shove them back into the dash and tear them up with some needle-nose. Then once you've got them broken down small enough to poke back through the dash-hole, you can remove what's left from the plug wire, plug in the new one and pop it in.
