I have a 96 chevy Tahoe with 156,000 miles. It has been pretty cold the last few mornings and I have noticed a knocking after starting the vehicle which goes away after reaching operating temp. I have noticed this on other chevy's I have owned all of them being a lot newer than this Tahoe. My 04 Silverado starting knocking in the cold after only about 50,000 miles. I am just wondering if this is something major or something that is just prone to Chevy's. Thank you.

Could be several things, is it a bottom end knock or a top end knock?

The 5.3l was prone as the skirts were short on the pistons....

My 5.7l has 300k and only gets noisy on Cold start at the end of the oils life....
