I have heard and read mixed opinions. I have a 2004 Tahoe 2wd with the stability track option and heard I need to add a limited slip additive when changing the gear fluid ( i am aware the mobil 1 synthetic comes with this, which I have heard you should add more additive than what is already mixed in there ) but I have also seen a bulletin that shows not to add it due to plates sticking- can anyone clarify ?

If you have the Gov locker that comes stock in the truck then you don't need the additive. You only need it in the clutch or cone style diffs. Those aren't stock diffs in these trucks. And as long as you don't go crazy with your truck ie flooring it around corners or spinning your tires whether on or off road then the factory locker will be ok. It's made for very mild work.

I agree, GM also doesn't recommend it. I have had a number of GM trucks with the same style diffs and have never used slip lock additive. The only one I have had issues with was a 10 bolt on an 85 Sierra Classic that just loved to splin tires and the spider gears blew up...lol Lessons learned I guess...
