I want to replace the spark plug wires on my 4.8. The ones on the truck have metal shields around the boots, presumably to protect the boots from heat.

The new wires I bought (Bosch) do not have metal shields. Am I supposed to re use the old shields or just the Bosch wires as is?

If I bought AC/Delco wires, do they come with the shields? Are they designed to be used with the old shields?

If it is the correct plug wire application then they should be made to be used by reusing the old metal shields. Perfect time to remove the old shields and clean them up pretty.

Well I called the chevy dealer, and they said their wires are made to reuse the old shields. Hopefully the Bosch wires are too.

In case anyone wants to know, the Bosch wires work fine with the old shields.
